Katy joined DTI Lawyers in 2015 as an Employment Law specialist. In addition to her employment law expertise, Katy also has civil and criminal litigation experience as a previous member of one of the South Island’s largest law firms, and for a specialist family law firm based in Hamilton.

Katy’s broad litigation background provides her with a range of skills and a well-rounded perspective to advise both employers and employees on employment law issues. Katy is skilled in proactively pursuing the prompt resolution of disputes through direct negotiation and mediation or other dispute resolution forums, as required

Katy’s employment law expertise includes:

  • Advising employer and employee clients on a full range of employment law matters including the resolution of personal grievances, disciplinary action, performance management, restructuring and redundancies, employment implications in business sales, restraints, confidentiality and IP protection, privacy issues, drafting and advising on employment agreements, policies and procedures;
  • Advocacy and dispute resolution, including mediations;
  • Health and safety advice.
